JASON MCGLADE
ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE
Jason McGlade is a photographer and creative director known for his unusual approach to photography. He studied documentary photography at Newport University in South Wales and at Oliviero Toscani's acclaimed creative lab Fabrica in Treviso, Italy. He has created several advertising campaigns for fashion clients such as Etro and Diesel and has been published in leading publications around the world. His editorial work inspired him to create his own magazine – Freestyle Magazine. The four issues of the round magazine, which fits inside a frisbee, were published in collaboration with designers such as Eley Kishimoto, Paul Smith and Matthew Williamson, and have become coveted design objects. As a photographer, McGlade works primarily in analogue. He spends a lot of time in his own darkroom exploring photographic techniques, experimenting with outdated Polaroid film and now incorporating handmade elements into his latest work.
This passion for the handmade and the analogue process of developing images led to the exhibition Accidentally on Purpose.
Jason is a true scientist working in the field of photography. Over the coming weeks you will be able to see the amazing results of the gelatin silver process. The images show the transformation and timeline of his work over the past few years. From outdated Polaroids to silver gelatine process on fine art paper. The beauty is in the unknown, you cannot control the outcome, Jason is is the chase for serendipity.
